Authorities in Attock have finalised comprehensive security arrangements for Sikh pilgrims attending the Baisakhi Mela 2026 at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal. The annual religious festival is expected to attract around 6,000 pilgrims from across Pakistan and abroad.
To ensure a safe and peaceful environment, more than 1,200 police personnel have been deployed under the supervision of District Police Officer Sardar Moarhan Khan. The security plan includes multi-layered measures, with strict monitoring at entry and exit points, key routes, and داخل the gurdwara premises.
The deployment includes senior officers such as DSPs, inspectors, and SHOs, along with a large number of constables and lady police. In addition, 18 squads of Elite Commandos have been assigned to strengthen security and provide rapid response in case of emergencies.
Officials stated that the plan prioritises crowd management, surveillance, and protection of religious sites. Advanced monitoring and coordinated policing strategies have been implemented to prevent any untoward incidents during the celebrations.
Ahead of the main event, Sikh pilgrims have also visited Gurdwara Sacha Sauda to perform religious rituals. The central Baisakhi gathering at Panja Sahib is scheduled to take place on Tuesday and is expected to draw large crowds under tight security arrangements.
Baisakhi is one of the most important festivals in the Sikh calendar, symbolising both religious significance and cultural heritage. The arrangements highlight the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and facilitation of religious communities during major events.
