Talagang: Like every year, the name of Chakwal district was also included in the list of other sensitive districts of Punjab during Muharram. Chakwal district is declared sensitive every time and the district administration is tasked
Deputy Commissioner Qurat-ul-Ain Malik issued a statement on social media on the peaceful end of 1st Muharram and Day of Ashura, in which she said, all the processions and gatherings of 10th Muharram have ended peacefully. From the first of Muharram until now, Chakwal Police, Rescue 1122, all the supporting institutions including the district administration remained on high alert. All of us including Assistant Commissioners, SPs, DPOs were present in the field. We kept a close watch on all activities so that no miscreants disturb the peace. Control rooms were set up from where security was monitored with the help of CCTV and drones. For the first time in Muharram, the Patwaris and Numberdars were also made to take the lead in the procession arrangements with the district administration for more convenience. Despite the monsoon rains, the staff of the Municipal Committees also made excellent cleaning arrangements, which is commendable.
Alhamdulillah, due to the effective meetings of the Peace Committee, no untoward incident was reported from any place. From day one, we tried to prevent miscreants from rising in these sensitive days. This was possible only because of the mutual consultation, brotherhood and religious harmony of the scholars of all schools of thought and all sects. The message of Chakwal being a peaceful and religiously tolerant district with the successful holding of Muharram processions is definitely a source of peace and happiness for me. While expressing satisfaction with the arrangements, they said, despite being a woman, she demonstrated her administrative skills. Our district is joining the list of strong districts of Punjab day by day under her leadership. Punjab police youth also performed their duties during Muharram and DPO Chakwal Captain retired Wahid Mahmood remained active.
