CTD Sub-Inspector Abdul Salam Killed in Targeted Attack on Sariab Road Quetta

A tragic incident took place in Quetta where a sub-inspector of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) lost his life in a targeted attack. According to police officials, the incident occurred on Friday in the Sariab Road area when unidentified attackers opened fire on the officer.

The victim was identified as Sub-Inspector Abdul Salam, who was reportedly on his way to work at the time of the attack. Police stated that the assailants targeted him and opened fire before quickly fleeing the scene.

Following the shooting, the injured officer was immediately shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for medical treatment. However, despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries.

Law enforcement agencies quickly cordoned off the area after the incident and launched a search operation to track down the suspects involved in the attack. Authorities have described the incident as a targeted killing, considering the victim’s role in the Counter-Terrorism Department, which is responsible for combating terrorism in the province.

Police officials confirmed that an investigation has been initiated to determine the motives behind the attack and identify the perpetrators.

After the completion of medico-legal formalities, the body of the slain officer was handed over to his family. Funeral prayers for Sub-Inspector Abdul Salam were later offered in Quetta, where senior police officers, colleagues, and members of the community gathered to pay tribute to his services and sacrifice.

The incident once again highlights the serious security challenges faced by law enforcement personnel in Balochistan, where police and security officials have frequently been targeted in violent attacks.

Authorities have assured that efforts are underway to arrest those responsible and bring them to justice.
