Haneyya calls for Turkish efforts to protect Palestinian people

Haneyya calls for Turkish

Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has urged Turkiye to make efforts to provide protection for the Palestinian people, their rights and holy sites and prevent the Israeli occupation state from persisting in its crimes and aggressive practices.

This came during Haneyya’s telephone conversation on Monday night with Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Haneyya put the Turkish foreign minister in the picture of the last Israeli aggression against Gaza and the crimes that happened during three days of fighting.

The Hamas leader also briefed Cavusoglu on the latest developments related to the ceasefire, as well as the repeated desecration of the Aqsa Mosque by Jewish settlers.

He stressed that Israel’s practices in the occupied Palestinian territories would only make the Palestinian people more adherent to their rights and holy sites and more determined to resist the occupation on their own land.

For his part, Cavusoglu affirmed that the Palestinian cause would remain a priority for his country, which he described as a staunch supporter of the Palestinian people and their rights, especially in Occupied Jerusalem.

The minister said that Turkiye “does not accept any changes to the status quo at the Aqsa Mosque and in Jerusalem.”

He asserted his keenness on highlighting the developments related to the Palestinian cause and the last events in Gaza during his regular meetings with the ambassadors in Ankara, pledging to continue his diplomatic efforts in this regard.
