IHC Petition Filed for Timely Announcement of Eid Moon Sighting

A petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking a directive for government authorities to announce the Eid moon sighting in a timely and coordinated manner.

The petitioner emphasized that delays and inconsistencies in previous years have caused confusion and led to disunity among citizens during the celebrations of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha.

According to the petition, prompt and unified announcements from relevant government departments are essential to ensure that all regions of Pakistan observe Eid on the same day. The plea highlights that lack of coordination in moon sighting declarations can undermine national unity and cause inconvenience to the public.

The court has been requested to instruct authorities to establish a clear and standardized protocol for announcing moon sightings. The petitioner argued that such measures would prevent recurring confusion and promote religious harmony during major Islamic festivals.

Observers say the IHC may consider issuing a directive ahead of the upcoming Eid, ensuring a smooth and coordinated celebration across the country.
