Motorway Police Suspend 11 Buses for Carrying Passengers in Baggage Compartments Before Eid

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have taken strict action against unsafe travel practices by suspending 11 passenger buses for carrying individuals in baggage compartments ahead of Eidul Fitr.

According to officials, the buses were found violating safety regulations by allowing passengers to travel in luggage compartments located beneath the seating area. This dangerous practice puts lives at serious risk due to the lack of ventilation, proper seating, and emergency exits.

The action was taken during inspections conducted at the Islamabad Main Toll Plaza, where motorway police safely evacuated passengers who were being transported in these hazardous conditions. Authorities described this act as a serious and punishable offense.

As part of the enforcement measures, the 11 buses have been suspended from operating on motorways for a period of seven days. The crackdown aims to ensure safe travel conditions, especially during the busy Eid season when millions of people travel across the country.

The motorway police have emphasized their commitment to passenger safety and have warned transport operators against engaging in such illegal practices. Strict monitoring is being carried out at toll plazas and key points along the motorway network.

In addition, the NHMP has issued a travel advisory for Eidul Fitr, highlighting the expected surge in traffic on national highways and motorways. Passengers are advised to choose safe travel options and report any violations.

Such unsafe practices are often observed during peak travel seasons when transport demand increases significantly. However, authorities have made it clear that compromising passenger safety will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

In conclusion, the suspension of these buses sends a strong message to transport operators to follow safety rules and ensure the well-being of passengers, particularly during festive travel periods like Eid.
