Opposition Sit-in Enters Fifth Day Over Imran Khan’s Health Concerns

The opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayin-e-Pakistan (TTAP) continued its sit-in outside Parliament House on Tuesday for the fifth consecutive day, demanding access to jailed former prime minister Imran Khan to verify his medical condition.

Although roads surrounding Parliament House were cleared, the protest remained in place. TTAP leaders said they hope at least one family member or party representative will be allowed to meet Imran Khan today.

Two participants of the sit-in, Salman Akram Raja and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, are scheduled to visit Adiala Jail after their names were included in the approved visitors’ list. Opposition leaders stressed that allowing a family meeting would help dispel rumors regarding Khan’s health.

The alliance also raised concerns over the credibility of the medical report issued after Khan’s examination inside the jail, stating that his personal physician, Dr. Aasim Yusuf, was not permitted to examine him. TTAP leaders insist that Imran Khan should be treated under the supervision of his family and personal doctors at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad.

Khan’s sister, Aleema Khanum, rejected the existing medical report and confirmed that family members plan to visit him later today. She added that a press conference would be held outside Adiala Jail following the visit.

The sit-in began after reports emerged claiming that Imran Khan had suffered significant vision loss in his right eye. Opposition leaders warned that the lack of transparency has eroded trust in official statements and called for immediate corrective measures.

Meanwhile, PTI parliamentarians continue separate demonstrations outside Parliament Lodges, while KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also led a protest at KP House. TTAP leaders are expected to meet later in the evening to decide the next course of action.
