Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties amid evolving regional challenges. The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, met with the Iranian Consul General in Peshawar, Ali Banafsha Khah, at the Governor’s House during an Iftar gathering to discuss regional stability and enhanced cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the deep historical, cultural, and religious bonds that connect Pakistan and Iran. They agreed that in the current regional environment, close coordination and mutual understanding are essential for ensuring peace and stability.
Governor Kundi highlighted that Pakistan and Iran are not merely neighboring states but brotherly Islamic nations with shared interests and responsibilities. He stated that both countries hold significant strategic importance in the region and can contribute positively to promoting harmony and economic development.
Economic cooperation featured prominently in the discussions. The Iranian Consul General invited Governor Kundi to participate in the upcoming Pak-Iran Trade and Investment Council Pavilion event scheduled to take place in Tehran in April. The event aims to enhance bilateral trade, attract investment, and create new economic opportunities for businesses from both sides.
Both representatives expressed optimism about expanding trade, improving diplomatic engagement, and strengthening people-to-people connections. They acknowledged that enhanced cooperation in economic, cultural, and political spheres would benefit citizens of both countries.
The Iranian diplomat appreciated Pakistan’s friendly and constructive approach, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to building stronger ties.
