Pakistan has strongly rejected India’s criticism regarding its recent counterterrorism operations targeting militant hideouts inside Afghanistan.
Officials in Islamabad described the remarks made by New Delhi as baseless and hypocritical, emphasizing that Pakistan’s actions were carried out purely for national security and self-defence.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi stated that the operations specifically targeted terrorist hideouts and logistical support bases responsible for attacks against Pakistan.
According to the spokesperson, the strikes were conducted with precision and in accordance with international law.
He further explained that Pakistan has the right to defend its territory and citizens from militant groups that operate across the border.
Andrabi described India’s reaction as surprising and unjustified, arguing that New Delhi does not have the moral authority to criticize Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism.
He alleged that India has a long history of supporting militant networks operating from Afghan territory, claiming that such groups have attempted to destabilize Pakistan through cross-border activities.
The spokesperson also stated that Pakistan’s successful operations had exposed these militant networks, which may explain India’s frustration and criticism.
In addition to addressing the recent strikes, Andrabi also raised concerns about India’s human rights record.
He accused India of maintaining control over Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in violation of international commitments and United Nations resolutions.
According to the spokesperson, Indian authorities continue to carry out policies that lead to repression and human rights violations in the disputed territory.
He also expressed concern about India’s domestic policies, stating that minority communities in the country face increasing discrimination and marginalization.
Furthermore, Andrabi alleged that Islamophobia is on the rise in India and accused the government of promoting policies influenced by extremist ideologies.
Pakistan has reiterated that its counterterrorism actions are aimed at ensuring regional stability and protecting its citizens from militant threats.
Officials have called on the international community to take note of the security challenges in the region and support efforts to combat terrorism.
