Punjab Ensures Foolproof Security for Vaisakhi Festival 2026

The Punjab Home Department has announced comprehensive security and administrative arrangements for the upcoming Vaisakhi Festival 2026, ensuring a safe and well-organized environment for thousands of pilgrims.

The 327th Vaisakhi Festival will be observed from April 10 to April 19 across multiple gurdwaras in Punjab. Authorities expect around 26,000 Sikh pilgrims to participate in the celebrations, including approximately 3,000 visitors arriving from India.

To maintain law and order, Punjab Police has been directed to implement foolproof security measures. Personnel will be deployed at all major venues, routes, and accommodation facilities, with strict monitoring throughout the festival period.

Advanced surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras, walk-through gates, and search lights, will be installed at sensitive locations to enhance security. Senior officers will supervise operations at key sites to ensure effective coordination and rapid response.

The Special Branch has been tasked with conducting detailed security audits of all relevant locations. Authorities will also carry out thorough inspections of transport vehicles, including screening drivers and conductors transporting pilgrims.

In addition, intelligence committees at divisional and district levels will remain active, holding regular meetings to coordinate security strategies and monitor the situation closely. Combing operations will be conducted in surrounding areas before the festival to prevent any potential threats.

Beyond security, the government has also emphasized cleanliness and management. Under the Suthra Punjab initiative, sanitation teams will ensure proper cleanliness across routes, gurdwaras, and accommodation sites.

These measures reflect the government’s commitment to providing a secure, respectful, and welcoming environment for religious celebrations, ensuring that Vaisakhi Festival 2026 is observed peacefully across Punjab.
