Sahibzada Farhan Breaks Virat Kohli’s Record for Most Runs in Single T20 World Cup Edition

Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has etched his name into cricket history by breaking Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs in a single edition of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Farhan achieved the milestone during Pakistan’s crucial Super 8 clash against Sri Lanka national cricket team, delivering a match-defining performance at the top of the order. He scored his second century of the tournament, taking his total tally to an incredible 383 runs, surpassing Kohli’s previous record of 319 runs set in 2014.

With this achievement, Farhan now holds the record for the highest aggregate runs in a single T20 World Cup edition. The updated top performers list now places him ahead of:

  • Tillakaratne Dilshan – 317 runs (2009)

  • Babar Azam – 303 runs (2021)

  • Mahela Jayawardene – 302 runs (2010)

  • Virat Kohli – 296 runs (2022 edition)

Farhan’s explosive yet composed innings powered Pakistan to 212/8 in 20 overs. To secure a place in the semi-finals, Pakistan must restrict Sri Lanka to under 147 runs to edge past New Zealand on net run rate.

This landmark performance not only strengthens Pakistan’s semi-final hopes but also marks one of the greatest individual campaigns in T20 World Cup history.
