At least two personnel of the Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) were martyred and another was injured following an armed attack on a security check post in the Panowan area of Jiwani, Gwadar district.
According to officials, the incident took place on Sunday when unidentified assailants riding motorcycles opened fire on the check post using automatic weapons.
Gwadar Senior Superintendent of Police Atta-ur-Rehman Tareen confirmed that the attack resulted in the immediate martyrdom of two coast guards who were performing their duties at the time.
The third personnel stationed at the post sustained injuries during the attack and was quickly moved to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
SSP Tareen stated that the attackers fired multiple rounds before fleeing the scene.
He said that two coast guards were martyred on the spot after receiving multiple bullet injuries, while another officer was injured during the exchange.
Following the attack, police and security forces immediately reached the location and secured the area.
The bodies of the martyred personnel and the injured officer were transported to a nearby hospital for medical procedures and further investigation.
Security forces have launched a combing operation in the surrounding areas of Jiwani to trace and arrest the attackers.
Authorities have stated that efforts are underway to identify the individuals responsible for the assault.
So far, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The incident once again highlights the security challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in parts of Balochistan, particularly in coastal areas where security forces remain on high alert.
Officials have reiterated that operations will continue until those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
Authorities also emphasized their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region despite ongoing security threats.
