The University of Faisalabad hosted an seminar on Women Empowerment for Building Peace, Social Cohesion and Prosperous Pakistan Wherein Mrs. Muniba Khawar Shahzad, Provincial Coordinator, Dukhtaran-e-Pakistan Program, Punjab was specially invited to dilate upon the topic. Addressing the seminar, Mrs. Muniba Khawar highlighted the practical role of women for social cohesion, peace building and national development and prosperity.
“Unless women work alongside men, the dream of national development and prosperity cannot be fulfilled. For this, women need to be empowered,” she said. She stressed the need to provide a conducive environment for working women at workplaces Where they use their abilities. He said that majority of educated young women in Pakistan, after getting higher education, confine themselves to housework only.
They should come forward to harness the implications of their economic life. She added that Islam has given equal rights to women. Islamic history bears witness to the fact that courageous Muslim women have served alongside men in all arduous memnts.
Rector of the University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaliq-ur-Rehman in his address highlighted the importance of the practical role of women for the development of the country. Ahmad Khawar Shahzad, Director (Development & Finance) Sahiwal Division, Rao Jamil Afsar, (Head Human Resources), Ittehad Textile Industries; Miss Zahida Maqbool, (Additional Registrar of the University); Dr. Arshia Hashmi, (Head, Department of Management Studies), Dr Ahmad Shahzad and a large number of university faculty members and female students participated in the seminar.
