Pakistan’s security forces have achieved a significant counter-terrorism success after eliminating 27 terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khwarij during a series of intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan. The operations, conducted over a period of 72 hours, targeted multiple militant hideouts in the Miranshah area and resulted in the recovery of weapons and ammunition.
According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces launched coordinated intelligence-based operations after receiving information regarding the presence of militants in various locations across North Waziristan.
The ISPR stated that multiple terrorist hideouts were engaged during the operations, leading to intense exchanges of fire between security personnel and militants. Following the successful completion of these operations, a total of 27 terrorists were killed.
Authorities described the slain militants as members of Fitna al-Khwarij, a term used by the Pakistani state for terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The military said the militants had been involved in numerous terrorist activities, including attacks on security forces and targeted killings of innocent civilians.
Security officials also recovered a significant quantity of weapons, ammunition, and other materials from the militants during the operations. The recovered items are expected to assist investigators in uncovering further details regarding militant networks operating in the region.
According to the ISPR, the successful operation also avenged the targeted killing of Shaheed Malik Saifullah Dawar, a prominent figure from Miranshah. The military stated that those responsible for the killing had been brought to justice through the latest action.
Following the completion of the intelligence-based operations, security forces launched sanitisation activities throughout the affected areas to locate any remaining militants and eliminate potential threats. Authorities emphasized that the process would continue until the region is fully secured.
The military reiterated its commitment to the national counter-terrorism strategy under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan. Officials stated that operations against foreign-sponsored terrorism would continue with full determination across the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their professionalism and successful execution of the operations. He stated that the nation takes pride in the sacrifices and bravery of its armed forces and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism from Pakistan.
The prime minister also expressed satisfaction over the elimination of those involved in the targeted killing of Malik Saifullah Dawar and said that all attempts by terrorists and their facilitators to destabilize Pakistan would be defeated.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the security forces, describing the operations as timely and effective. He stated that the successful action had prevented potential terrorist plans and demonstrated Pakistan’s determination to combat militancy.
The latest operation comes amid continued security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to security assessments, the province recorded a significant increase in militant activity during 2025, with over 1,500 terrorism-related incidents reported.
Despite rising threats, law enforcement agencies and security forces successfully disrupted hundreds of planned attacks through intelligence-led operations. Reports indicate that hundreds of militants were neutralized while thousands of search and security operations were conducted across the province.
Districts including Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Hangu, and Peshawar remained among the most affected areas due to militant activities. Authorities continue to strengthen intelligence gathering, border security, and counter-terrorism coordination to address evolving security threats.
Security analysts believe the latest success in North Waziristan demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-based operations and highlights the ongoing efforts of Pakistan’s security institutions to dismantle militant networks and maintain national stability.
As sanitisation operations continue, officials have reiterated that the fight against terrorism remains a national priority and that security forces will continue taking decisive action against all elements threatening peace and security in Pakistan.
