Senior politician Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind has strongly criticised the Balochistan government over the diversion of Rs340 million from the budget allocated to the Bolan Dam project to the Baiker area in Dera Bugti.
Speaking to the media in Quetta, Rind said the funds were part of a larger Rs700 million allocation approved under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for dam-related projects in his constituency. He termed the transfer of such a significant portion of funds as unacceptable.
Rind emphasised that development funds approved for specific regions should be utilised within those areas to ensure timely completion of projects and to benefit the local population. He warned that shifting funds could delay essential infrastructure work and undermine public welfare.
The politician also highlighted the importance of stability in Balochistan, stating that he was deliberately avoiding protests to prevent further unrest in the province. However, he maintained that the decision to reallocate funds was deeply concerning and required reconsideration.
According to Rind, nearly half of the allocated budget for dam projects in his constituency has been redirected, raising questions about development priorities and transparency in public spending.
The issue underscores broader concerns about the management of development funds in Balochistan and the need for adherence to approved project allocations to ensure equitable growth and infrastructure development.
