Chakwal’s Diljabbah is being considered as a potential venue for international-level paragliding events as the Punjab government explores ways to promote the district’s natural landscape and tourism potential.
Punjab Secretary for Tourism, Archaeology and Museums Suqrat Aman Rana visited Diljabbah to assess the area’s suitability for paragliding and examine its geographical features and landscape.
During the visit, Mr Rana said the site had significant potential for the sport and that plans were being considered to organise an international-level paragliding competition there.
An international sporting event at Diljabbah could help introduce Chakwal to a wider audience and attract both domestic and foreign visitors. Tourism activity could also create employment and business opportunities for local communities.
Earlier, Mr Rana met Deputy Commissioner Sarah Hayat at her office, where they discussed ongoing development projects aimed at promoting tourism across the district.
The meeting focused on the development of tourist sites, improvement of visitor facilities and measures to promote Chakwal’s natural attractions.
The Punjab government is working to improve facilities at natural, historical and cultural locations across the province and develop them as attractive tourist destinations.
According to Mr Rana, Chakwal’s distinctive geographical features and natural landscape would be highlighted as part of efforts to strengthen the district’s tourism potential.
Deputy Commissioner Sarah Hayat also highlighted Chakwal’s tourism opportunities and said the district administration would work with the Tourism Department to develop tourist sites, improve basic facilities and create a suitable environment for visitors.
The consideration of Diljabbah for an international paragliding event represents part of wider efforts to promote adventure tourism in Punjab. If developed with appropriate safety, infrastructure and visitor facilities, the site could become another attraction for tourists visiting Chakwal.
