Dr Noshina Saleem Appointed Dean of Punjab University’s Media Faculty

LAHORE: The Government of Punjab has appointed Prof. Dr Noshina Saleem as Dean of the Faculty of Information & Media Studies at the University of the Punjab, Lahore.

According to a notification issued by the Higher Education Department on Tuesday, the Governor and Chancellor of Punjab appointed Dr Saleem under the powers granted by the University of the Punjab Act, 1973.

Dr Noshina Saleem will serve as dean for three years or until the date of her superannuation, whichever comes earlier.

She currently serves in the Department of Communication & Media Research and was selected for the position on the basis of being the highest in merit.

As Dean, Dr Saleem will oversee the academic and administrative affairs of the Faculty of Information & Media Studies. The faculty plays an important role in educating students in journalism, mass communication, digital media and media research.

The appointment notification was signed by Section Officer Shafaqat Ali and circulated to the Principal Secretaries of the Governor and Chief Minister, the Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, the Registrar and other relevant senior officials for necessary action.

Academic Leadership

Dr Noshina Saleem is a senior academic and researcher specialising in communication and media studies. Her appointment is being viewed as recognition of her contribution to media education and research at Punjab University.

Faculty members and students congratulated Dr Saleem on her appointment and expressed hope that her leadership would further strengthen academic research, curriculum development and links between the university and the media industry.

The Faculty of Information & Media Studies at Punjab University is among Pakistan’s established institutions for media education. It has played an important role in preparing journalists, media professionals, researchers and scholars over the years.

With Dr Saleem taking charge as dean, expectations are high that the faculty will continue to develop its academic programmes, promote research and strengthen opportunities for students in the rapidly changing media and digital communication landscape.
