The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially announced the results of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections, with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) emerging as the largest political party after securing 9 seats in the 24-member assembly.
According to the Election Commission, notifications have been issued for 21 of the 24 constituencies, while results for GBLA-9 Skardu-3, GBLA-17 Diamer-3, and GBLA-15 Diamer-1 will be announced later.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured 6 seats, making it the second-largest party, while the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) won 4 seats. The Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) captured 1 seat, and one independent candidate also secured victory.
In addition to the general seats, the Election Commission announced the allocation of nine reserved seats for women and technocrats. The Pakistan Peoples Party received four reserved seats, the PML-N obtained three, and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party secured two.
PPP candidates won from several constituencies, including GBLA-1 Gilgit-1, GBLA-4 Nagar-1, GBLA-5 Nagar-2, GBLA-6 Hunza, GBLA-7 Skardu-1, GBLA-10 Skardu-4, GBLA-11 Kharmang, GBLA-12 Shigar, and GBLA-19 Ghizer-1.
PML-N candidates claimed victory in GBLA-2 Gilgit-2, GBLA-13 Astore-1, GBLA-14 Astore-2, GBLA-18 Diamer-4, GBLA-20 Ghizer-2, and GBLA-22 Ghanche-1.
The Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party won GBLA-16 Diamer-2, GBLA-21 Ghizer-3, GBLA-23 Ghanche-2, and GBLA-24 Ghanche-3, while the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen secured GBLA-8 Skardu-2. An independent candidate emerged victorious from GBLA-3 Gilgit-3.
For the women’s reserved seats, Kulsoom Jahangir, Saadia Danish, and Sobia Jabeen from PPP were declared successful. Sajida Begum and Jennifer Bahadur secured reserved seats for PML-N, while Dilshad Bano won a reserved seat for the IPP.
On the technocrat seats, Muhammad Sharif (PPP), Sahib Khan (PML-N), and Muhammad Ali (IPP) were officially notified as successful candidates.
With the election results now largely finalized, attention is turning toward government formation in Gilgit-Baltistan. Political parties are expected to begin coalition discussions in the coming days to secure a governing majority in the assembly.
