Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has stated that the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan has become essential in the broader national interest of Pakistan. He emphasized that all constitutional and democratic efforts will be made to secure his release, calling it a matter not just of politics but also of human wellbeing.
During a high-level meeting with PTI parliamentarians and party representatives, Afridi reviewed the political situation, governance matters and the ongoing Imran Release Campaign. He expressed serious concern over Imran Khan’s health and restricted access to his family and personal doctors, describing it as an urgent issue.
The Chief Minister also discussed preparations for the upcoming public gathering in Mardan, stating that negative propaganda attempts would fail and the public would respond strongly. He reiterated that Imran Khan’s guidance remains central to the party’s direction and future strategy.
In addition to political matters, Afridi approved several key policy and budget initiatives for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These include increased funding for the KP Highways Authority, expansion of the provincial internship programme and improvements in employee welfare, including retirement and compensation benefits.
The upcoming provincial budget will focus on youth development, infrastructure and public welfare. Afridi highlighted the importance of inclusive planning through consultative meetings and stakeholder engagement.
The developments reflect both political momentum and governance priorities in KP, as the province moves towards economic planning and policy reforms while navigating a sensitive national political landscape.
