Iranian Ship M/V Touska Transferred to Pakistan as US Hands Over Crew for Repatriation

The United States has transferred the seized Iranian vessel M/V Touska along with 22 crew members to Pakistan for repatriation to Iran, marking a significant development amid ongoing maritime tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to US Central Command, the ship was intercepted near Iran’s Chabahar port after allegedly failing to comply with repeated warnings. The crew has now been handed over to Pakistan authorities, while six family members had earlier been moved to another regional country.

Iran strongly condemned the seizure, calling it a violation of international law and accusing the US of “armed piracy.” The incident highlights growing instability in the region, particularly after increased military actions and blockades involving both the United States and Iran.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route, remains under pressure as hundreds of vessels and thousands of seafarers have been affected by the ongoing conflict. In response, the US has announced Operation Freedom, aimed at ensuring safe passage for commercial ships in the region.

Experts warn that continued tensions could disrupt global trade and energy supplies, making the situation increasingly critical for international stakeholders.
