Jamaat-e-Islami Announces Nationwide Mobilisation, Membership Drive from April 25

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, has announced a nationwide mobilisation campaign following Eid, alongside a large-scale membership drive scheduled from April 25 to May 15.

Addressing party workers in Peshawar, he emphasised that Pakistan’s political and judicial system requires deep structural reforms rather than simple changes in leadership. He argued that replacing one ruling party with another — including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, or Pakistan Peoples Party — would not resolve the country’s core issues.

The JI leader called on citizens who seek systemic change to join his party’s movement, stating that the upcoming membership campaign aims to bring millions of people into the party’s fold across Pakistan.

🏛️ Focus on Governance and Local Governments

Hafiz Naeem stressed the importance of empowering local governments and criticised the concentration of authority within bureaucratic structures. He argued that financial control should not remain limited to administrative officers, advocating for decentralisation and stronger grassroots governance.

He also highlighted education challenges, pointing out that millions of children remain out of school in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling it a reflection of governance failures.

🌍 Foreign Policy Remarks

On international relations, he criticised reliance on the United States and called for a more independent and dignified foreign policy. While supporting ongoing diplomatic efforts and ceasefire initiatives, he emphasised that Pakistan should prioritise national interest and avoid dependency on global powers.

💰 Economic Criticism

The JI chief also criticised government revenue measures, including petroleum levies, claiming they have increased the financial burden on the public. He questioned fiscal policies and called for economic reforms that provide relief to citizens.

The announcement of the mobilisation campaign and membership drive marks a significant political move by Jamaat-e-Islami as it seeks to expand its influence and push for structural reforms in Pakistan’s governance and economic systems.
