Maryam Nawaz Announces Free Stroke Injection Worth Rs300,000 Under Stroke Card Programme

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that eligible stroke patients will receive a life-saving injection worth approximately Rs300,000 free of charge under the provincial government’s Stroke Card programme. The initiative was introduced at a ceremony in Lahore as part of efforts to improve access to essential healthcare services.

Addressing the event, Maryam Nawaz discussed the challenges of governing Punjab, which attracts people seeking better living conditions and employment opportunities. She highlighted the importance of providing public services, including medical treatment, to a growing population.

The chief minister said the injection used in stroke treatment is unaffordable for many families because of its high cost. Under the programme, eligible patients can receive the medicine free at designated stroke centres, helping reduce the financial burden associated with emergency medical care.

Maryam Nawaz also acknowledged the work of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals involved in the programme. She praised their role in providing timely medical assistance and treatment to stroke patients.

During her address, the chief minister referred to other healthcare projects in Punjab. She said the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology had been established in Lahore and mentioned the construction of a modern hospital in Sargodha as part of efforts to expand healthcare facilities across the province.

She also announced that a cancer hospital in Lahore would become operational soon. According to her remarks, the facility is intended to expand access to specialised cancer treatment.

The Stroke Card programme aims to make a costly stroke medicine accessible to eligible patients without requiring them to pay the full price themselves. Patients should confirm eligibility and treatment availability with designated stroke centres, as stroke treatment is time-sensitive and requires urgent medical assessment.
