More than 33,000 students are set to appear for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026 in Sindh as they compete for 5,100 MBBS and BDS seats across the province. The entrance examination is scheduled to be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at multiple examination centres.
The MDCAT 2026 in Sindh will be conducted under the supervision of the Sukkur IBA Testing Service. According to Sukkur IBA Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Sheikh, over 33,000 candidates have registered for the exam, including 20,934 female students and more than 12,600 male students.
Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) Vice Chancellor Dr. Siraj Memon said that 5,100 seats are available for admissions this year. These include 2,300 MBBS seats and 2,800 BDS seats, including seats reserved under various quota categories.
For the first time, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) has been assigned the responsibility of managing the admission process after the MDCAT results are announced.
Karachi has the highest number of registered candidates, with 10,661 students, including 8,186 females and 2,475 males. Other examination centres include:
- Hyderabad: 9,470 candidates
- Sukkur: 5,462 candidates
- Larkana: 3,066 candidates
- Shaheed Benazirabad: 2,511 candidates
- Mirpurkhas: 2,067 candidates
- Islamabad: 300 candidates
The Karachi examination centre will be located at NED University, where special seating arrangements have also been made for parents at a nearby banquet facility.
Candidates have been instructed to reach their examination centres by 6:30 a.m., while the test will officially begin at 10:00 a.m.
The MDCAT paper will consist of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying 180 marks, with a total duration of three hours. There will be no negative marking.
To qualify for admission:
- MBBS applicants must secure at least 55% marks.
- BDS applicants must obtain a minimum of 50% marks.
To ensure transparency, Sukkur IBA Testing Service will upload the official answer key after the examination. Candidates will also receive a carbon copy of their answer sheet to verify their responses. The MDCAT 2026 results are expected to be announced by August 22, 2026.
