Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered a comprehensive upgrade of the National Police Academy during a detailed visit focused on modernizing police training infrastructure and facilities in Islamabad.
During the visit, the minister chaired a high-level meeting at the National Police Academy and reviewed ongoing development projects aimed at improving training standards across the country. He also inspected the under-construction multi-storey hostel and a model room, directing further improvements in facility standards.
A key decision during the visit was setting a May 31 deadline for the completion of the Elite Police Training School project. The minister also announced that elite-level training for officers will now be conducted at the National Police Academy instead of provincial institutions, centralizing advanced police training.
As part of the modernization plan, Mohsin Naqvi approved the installation of a solar power system to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs. He also ordered the renovation of existing buildings to bring them in line with modern standards.
Training reforms formed a major part of the upgrade initiative. The minister approved the establishment of new IT-enabled classrooms and directed the introduction of advanced training tools, including drones, night-vision equipment, and modern weapons to enhance operational readiness.
He further emphasized updates to promotional and refresher courses to align them with international policing standards and improve service delivery.
In addition, plans were approved for a dedicated driving school at the academy where officers will be trained in advanced driving techniques and high-speed pursuit operations. The minister also ordered the creation of crime scene investigation rooms to strengthen forensic and investigative training.
Sports and wellness facilities were also included in the upgrade plan. The minister instructed officials to develop padel tennis courts and upgrade existing gymnasium, swimming pool, and sports complex facilities.
Overall, the reforms aim to transform the National Police Academy into a modern training hub equipped with advanced technology, improved infrastructure, and practical learning environments for law enforcement officers.
