Pakistan has intensified its nationwide campaign against undocumented Afghan nationals after the expiration of the government’s deadline for voluntary compliance with immigration regulations.
According to official directives, Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan without valid visas or legal documentation will now face immediate arrest as authorities begin stricter enforcement of immigration laws. The federal government has instructed law enforcement agencies across the country to accelerate operations aimed at identifying and deporting individuals staying illegally.
Officials said the latest phase of the campaign focuses on ensuring that all foreign nationals possess valid travel and residency documents. Authorities have warned that any Afghan citizen found living in Pakistan without a valid visa will be taken into custody and processed in accordance with immigration laws.
The government has also cautioned that legal action will be taken against individuals who knowingly provide shelter, accommodation or rental property to undocumented Afghan nationals in violation of the law.
Security measures have been strengthened in several areas, particularly in Punjab. In Rawalpindi, authorities have completed the geotagging and geofencing of Afghan residents to assist officials in monitoring movements and verifying immigration status during enforcement operations. Officials said these digital tools will help improve coordination and enhance the effectiveness of inspections.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has directed provincial governments, law enforcement agencies and district administrations to submit daily progress reports on the ongoing campaign. These reports will include details of undocumented Afghan nationals detained, their legal status, processing procedures and repatriation arrangements.
Officials said the daily reporting mechanism is intended to improve coordination between federal and provincial authorities while ensuring close monitoring of the nationwide enforcement drive.
