Pakistan’s monsoon death toll has climbed to 107 after another 10 people lost their lives in rain-related incidents across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). According to the latest report released by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), continuous heavy rainfall has caused widespread destruction, including fatalities, injuries, damaged homes, and disrupted infrastructure across several provinces.
During the last 24 hours, seven deaths were reported in Punjab, while three people lost their lives in K-P. The fatalities in Punjab occurred in Gujrat, Okara, Sargodha, Narowal, and Sialkot, whereas Hangu and Shangla reported deaths in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials said most casualties resulted from house collapses, electrocution, flash floods, and drowning incidents caused by the ongoing monsoon spell.
The heavy rains also left 50 people injured, with 47 injuries reported in Punjab and three in Hangu, K-P. Since the beginning of the current monsoon season, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded the highest number of fatalities with 55 deaths, followed by Punjab with 36 deaths. Additional casualties have been reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Balochistan, Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to NDMA data, 297 people have been injured, 447 houses damaged, and 269 livestock killed nationwide due to heavy rainfall and flooding. Rescue authorities have conducted 130 rescue operations, successfully evacuating 3,841 people from flood-hit and high-risk areas.
The monsoon has also severely affected infrastructure, particularly in Gilgit-Baltistan, where 184 houses, nine bridges, and nearly eight kilometers of roads have been damaged by flash floods and landslides. Authorities continue relief efforts by distributing food, tents, and emergency supplies while restoring damaged roads and transportation links.
The NDMA has urged citizens to remain cautious, avoid flood-prone areas, and follow official weather advisories as monsoon rains are expected to continue in various parts of Pakistan.
