Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain, dust-thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms in several upper regions of Pakistan from May 19 to May 23, 2026.
According to the Met Office, a westerly weather system is expected to enter the northwestern parts of the country on the night of May 18 and remain active over upper regions for several days. Under its influence, multiple districts are likely to experience changing weather conditions, including thunderstorms, rainfall, strong winds and hailstorms.
The weather advisory covers various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Swat, Chitral, Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu and other districts.
In Punjab and Islamabad, rain and thunderstorms are expected in Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Chakwal and surrounding regions.
The PMD also predicted similar weather activity in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, where several valleys and mountainous areas may receive rainfall and occasional hailstorms.
Meanwhile, southern parts of the country are expected to continue experiencing very hot weather conditions during the forecast period.
The Met Office warned that strong winds, lightning and storms could damage weak infrastructure, including electricity poles, billboards and solar panels. Authorities have been advised to remain alert and take precautionary measures to avoid any emergency situations.
Farmers have also been urged to plan agricultural activities carefully in response to expected rainfall and duststorms, particularly in vulnerable areas.
The latest weather forecast highlights a significant shift in weather conditions across northern Pakistan, bringing relief from heat in some regions while also increasing the risk of storm-related disruptions.
