Petrol Price Cut by 94 Paisa, Diesel Becomes More Expensive by 54 Paisa

The federal government has announced a fresh adjustment in petroleum prices in Pakistan, reducing the price of petrol while increasing the price of high-speed diesel.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been reduced by 94 paisa per litre, bringing the new price to Rs324.98 per litre. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has increased by 54 paisa per litre, reaching Rs382.79 per litre.

The revised rates will take effect from midnight and remain applicable from August 13.

The latest adjustment comes just one day after another revision in petroleum prices. Previously, petrol was reduced by Rs1.70 per litre, while diesel was increased by Rs1.39 per litre.

The government has also reduced the price of kerosene oil by 41 paisa per litre. Following the latest adjustment, kerosene oil will cost Rs289.27 per litre.

According to the notification, the petroleum levy on diesel has also been increased by Rs1 per litre, taking the levy to Rs77.28 per litre. The levy on petrol remains unchanged at Rs80 per litre, while the kerosene oil levy remains at Rs20.36 per litre.

The repeated changes in fuel prices come amid fluctuations in international oil markets and changes in domestic pricing factors. Petroleum prices have a direct impact on transportation, agriculture, industry, electricity generation and the cost of everyday goods.

The latest revision provides limited relief to petrol and kerosene users, while diesel consumers will face a slight increase in costs. The impact could be more significant for transporters, farmers and businesses that rely heavily on diesel-powered vehicles and machinery.

The government is expected to continue reviewing petroleum prices according to market conditions and the country’s fuel pricing mechanism.
