Petrol Price Rises by Rs2.02 as Diesel Gets Rs3.59 Cheaper

The federal government has revised petroleum prices in Pakistan, increasing the price of petrol while reducing the rate of high-speed diesel. The new prices will remain applicable until September 28, according to a Petroleum Division notification.

Under the latest adjustment, the petrol price has increased by Rs2.02 per litre. Following the increase, petrol will now be available at Rs391.30 per litre.

In contrast, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs3.59 per litre. The new diesel price stands at Rs408.53 per litre.

The latest revision means petrol consumers will face a higher cost at the pumps, while diesel users will receive some relief from the lower rate. The different price movements are expected to have varying effects on motorists, transport operators and businesses.

Petrol prices are particularly important for private motorists and other petrol-powered vehicles, while diesel is widely used by commercial transport, public transport, agricultural machinery and various industries. Changes in diesel prices can therefore influence operating costs for transport and other business activities.

Fuel prices also remain closely watched because changes in petroleum rates can affect transportation expenses and, indirectly, the cost of goods and services. The actual impact on prices across different sectors can vary depending on transport requirements, fuel consumption and other operating costs.

According to the notification, the revised rates are temporary and will remain in effect through September 28. Any further change after that period would depend on the government’s next official review and notification.

With the latest adjustment, petrol is priced at Rs391.30 per litre, while high-speed diesel is available at Rs408.53 per litre. Consumers and businesses will continue to monitor future petroleum price decisions amid changing fuel and economic conditions.
