PM Shehbaz, Iranian Envoy Discuss Regional Situation as Pakistan Pushes Peace Efforts

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting with Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam to discuss the evolving regional situation and ongoing peace efforts following the extension of the United States–Iran ceasefire.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office Pakistan, both sides exchanged views on the current geopolitical climate and emphasised the importance of sustained dialogue to ensure regional stability.

The meeting comes shortly after Donald Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran. Reports suggest the extension followed a diplomatic request by Pakistan, highlighting its growing role in mediating between the two sides.

Pakistan has positioned itself as an “honest broker” in the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran. Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed gratitude for the ceasefire extension and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating dialogue aimed at achieving a long-term peace agreement.

Officials indicated that continued diplomatic engagement is crucial, especially as both countries prepare for the next round of negotiations expected to take place in Islamabad. The goal is to move toward a comprehensive and sustainable resolution of the conflict.

In recent weeks, Pakistan has intensified its diplomatic outreach, including high-level visits and consultations with Iranian leadership. These efforts underline Islamabad’s strategy to promote peace, reduce tensions, and support stability in the region.
