Karachi Crime Incident :
A 25-year-old security guard was killed in a Malir 15 firing incident after unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants opened fire at an under-construction shopping mall in Karachi.
How Did the Incident Happen?
According to police, motorcycle-riding assailants opened fire at the under-construction Memon Shopping Mall in Malir 15. As a result, security guard Ali Raza, son of Nisar, was killed.
Meanwhile, Ali Raza, who worked for a private security company, had been stationed at the shopping mall for about two and a half months.
Police Statement
Karachi Police suspect the involvement of a group allegedly linked to Lyari gang war commander Abdul Samad Kathiawari.
According to police, the shopping mall owners had allegedly received an extortion demand a few months ago. Furthermore, police said the suspects opened fire at the same location after the owners failed to meet the demand.
The SHO of Malir City said police also suspect members of the same group in the latest incident. However, investigators are examining the case from different angles.
Investigation Underway
Police are investigating the incident and working to arrest the suspects. In addition, investigators are examining a possible link between the firing and the earlier alleged extortion attempt.
However, police have not yet conclusively established responsibility for the attack. Therefore, the investigation remains ongoing.
