China, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has donated $2 million worth of reproductive health supplies, family planning products, and medical equipment to Pakistan to improve maternal and newborn healthcare services across the country.
The assistance was officially handed over to the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination during a ceremony held at the Rural Health Centre (RHC) Tarlai in Islamabad. The initiative reflects the continued cooperation between China, UNFPA, and Pakistan in strengthening the country’s healthcare system.
The donation aims to expand access to essential reproductive health services and family planning facilities in 10 underserved districts, where access to quality healthcare remains limited. The medical supplies are expected to improve maternal and infant health outcomes while ensuring better healthcare services for women and families living in vulnerable communities.
Officials said the support would help healthcare facilities provide critical reproductive health services, reduce maternal and newborn health risks, and improve the availability of essential medical resources in remote areas.
The collaboration between China and UNFPA highlights their commitment to supporting Pakistan’s public health sector and promoting sustainable healthcare development. Authorities expressed hope that the initiative would enhance healthcare delivery and improve the quality of life for thousands of families across underserved regions.
The latest donation also reflects the strong bilateral relationship between Pakistan and China, with both countries continuing to cooperate in health, infrastructure, education, and development projects.
