Grenade attack targets Jamaat-e-Islami office in Karachi, three workers injured

A grenade attack targeted the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) office in Karachi’s Lyari area, leaving three party workers injured and triggering a police investigation into the incident.

Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Muneem Zafar condemned the attack, describing it as an act of terrorism and demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible. During a visit to the injured workers at Civil Hospital Karachi, he said the victims suffered shrapnel injuries and questioned how the attackers managed to escape from such a densely populated area.

Zafar also criticized the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi, saying citizens no longer feel secure. Despite the attack, he reaffirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its “Haq Do Lyari Ko” campaign and “Badal Do Nizam” movement.

Meanwhile, the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) completed its preliminary investigation and reported that the attackers used a Russian-made RGD-1 hand grenade. Investigators recovered the grenade’s safety lever along with approximately 20 metal fragments from the blast site. The explosion also created a crater measuring around three inches deep and eight inches wide, indicating the intensity of the blast.

Police have launched an investigation to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the assault. No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
