Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds disrupted daily life and flight operations in Islamabad, with poor visibility causing delays for several incoming and outgoing flights.
The sudden spell of intense rainfall swept across various parts of the federal capital, reducing visibility and creating difficult driving conditions during peak traffic hours. Water accumulated in several low-lying areas, slowing traffic and causing inconvenience for commuters, while strong winds and dark clouds brought a noticeable drop in temperatures after days of hot and humid weather.
The adverse weather also affected operations at Islamabad International Airport, where several flights experienced delays and schedule adjustments due to unstable atmospheric conditions and limited visibility. Airport authorities advised passengers to confirm their flight status with their respective airlines before heading to the airport.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the current weather system is expected to remain active, bringing more rain and thunderstorms to Islamabad over the coming hours. Similar weather conditions are forecast for upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, with the possibility of isolated heavy downpours.
Officials have urged residents to remain cautious, particularly in areas vulnerable to urban flooding and slippery roads. Motorists have been advised to drive carefully due to reduced visibility, while travelers are encouraged to stay informed through official weather advisories before planning their journeys.
Meteorologists continue to monitor the evolving weather system and say intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms may persist across northern regions, with additional showers expected in several parts of the country.
