Former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has called for political dialogue and negotiations, stating that Pakistan’s ongoing political challenges can only be resolved through constructive discussions among stakeholders. Speaking at a seminar organized by the National Dialogue Committee in Lahore, he emphasized the importance of reconciliation and consensus for ensuring long-term political stability.
During his address, Imran Ismail acknowledged that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had made certain mistakes but stressed that these should not become obstacles to meaningful dialogue. He said political disagreements should be settled through negotiations rather than prolonged confrontation, adding that his side remains willing to engage in talks to reduce tensions across the country.
Imran Ismail also appealed for compassion toward political prisoners and women involved in political cases. He urged all political stakeholders to prioritize national interests and work together to create an environment of mutual understanding and stability.
Commenting on Pakistan’s recent diplomatic role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, he said the country’s international efforts should ultimately benefit its citizens by strengthening regional peace and economic opportunities.
The seminar also featured former Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, who highlighted that political leaders around the world regularly resolve disputes through negotiations and dialogue. He said Pakistan should adopt a similar approach to overcome political differences and strengthen democratic institutions.
Sarwar also praised Pakistan’s growing diplomatic importance on the international stage and expressed concern over regional water security issues, warning that any disruption to Pakistan’s water resources could seriously impact agriculture and food security.
Meanwhile, Mahmood Moulvi observed that some individuals within PTI were benefiting politically from continued confrontation and polarization. He argued that reconciliation, dialogue, and national unity should be given greater priority to move the country forward.
Political observers believe the renewed calls for dialogue reflect increasing demands for consensus-based politics as Pakistan continues to face economic, political, and governance challenges. Many analysts view negotiations as an essential step toward reducing political uncertainty and promoting long-term national stability.
