Maryam Nawaz Orders Tougher Policing Across Punjab After Rising Crime

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered stricter policing measures across the province following a noticeable rise in crime incidents. During an emergency meeting in Lahore, she reviewed recent crime reports and expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in cities like Sheikhupura and Faisalabad.

The chief minister directed police officials to adopt proactive strategies and work closely with the Crime Control Department (CCD) to curb criminal activities. She emphasized that incidents such as robbery, murder, kidnapping, and disappearances are unacceptable and must be addressed immediately.

Maryam Nawaz also highlighted that the police force has been provided with sufficient resources, including budget, modern equipment, and operational support. She stressed that with the removal of political interference, there is no excuse for poor performance and demanded visible results.

The meeting also reviewed specific incidents, including robbery cases and public safety concerns in urban areas. The chief minister warned that failure to control crime would not be tolerated and instructed officers to take strict action against offenders.

In addition, she paid tribute to security forces for their successful counter-terrorism operations and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring peace and safety for citizens.

On the occasion of Earth Day, Maryam Nawaz also urged citizens to adopt environmentally friendly practices, including reducing plastic use and planting trees, as part of a broader climate action plan in Punjab.
