The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Karachi has issued notices to 4,506 holders of suspicious Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) as part of its ongoing identity verification drive. The individuals have been directed to appear at their respective NADRA zonal offices within seven days and provide documents and evidence to establish the validity of their identity and citizenship records.
NADRA has warned that failure to respond within the specified period could result in the cancellation of the CNICs. The authority has also cautioned that the identity cards of other family members could potentially be affected if the required verification is not completed.
Of the total notices, 2,318 have reportedly been issued to CNIC holders living in different districts of Karachi, while around 2,400 notices concern individuals residing in various areas of interior Sindh.
The latest action is part of NADRA’s broader scrutiny of identity records where discrepancies or questions have emerged regarding the authenticity of CNICs and the information provided by their holders. Those who receive notices have been given an opportunity to submit supporting evidence and cooperate with the verification process.
NADRA has so far identified more than 10,000 suspicious CNIC holders across Pakistan this year. The latest notices in Karachi and interior Sindh add thousands of cases to the ongoing verification campaign.
Citizens who receive notices are advised to contact the relevant NADRA offices within the deadline and submit the required documentation to avoid possible further action.
