ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) carried out a series of precision airstrikes on strategic Afghan military installations in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia, security sources said early on Friday.
During the operations, a brigade headquarters in Kabul was reportedly destroyed. In Kandahar, both a corps headquarters and a brigade headquarters were hit. Officials also confirmed that an ammunition depot and a logistics base in Kandahar were destroyed during the strikes.
In Paktia, the PAF targeted and destroyed another corps headquarters, according to security sources. The operations were described as highly precise, causing significant damage to key military infrastructure across multiple Afghan provinces.
Officials stated that the strikes were part of ongoing measures to counter hostile actions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The situation in the targeted regions remains tense as Pakistani forces continue to monitor developments closely.
Meanwhile, tensions along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border escalated sharply overnight as the PAF also carried out airstrikes in Nangarhar province. The strikes reportedly destroyed a major ammunition depot and several military positions following what Pakistan described as unprovoked cross-border firing.
According to security officials, dozens of Afghan Taliban personnel were killed and many others injured during the retaliatory action. The clashes erupted after cross-border attacks targeted Pakistani positions along the frontier.
