Pakistan, Muslim World League strengthen cooperation against Islamophobia

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Muslim World League Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa in Islamabad to discuss expanding cooperation in promoting peace, combating extremism and addressing the growing challenge of Islamophobia.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf Saeed Al-Maliki.

According to an official statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed Dr. Al-Issa’s participation in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ministerial conference and thanked him for attending the important gathering.

The prime minister highlighted the Muslim World League’s significant role in addressing issues facing the Muslim world and appreciated the organisation’s continued efforts to promote peace, interfaith dialogue, tolerance and cooperation among Muslim countries.

Shehbaz Sharif also praised the League’s constructive role in the current regional situation and stressed the importance of collective action to address shared challenges confronting the Muslim world.

Expressing satisfaction over the growing partnership between Pakistan and the Muslim World League, the prime minister said both sides were working closely to combat extremism, intolerance and Islamophobia while promoting unity and mutual understanding.

He also conveyed his best wishes to Dr. Al-Issa and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Muslim World League in support of peace, harmony and the welfare of Muslim communities worldwide.
