Petrol Pump Dealers Threaten Nationwide Shutdown Over Unresolved Issues

The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has warned of a potential nationwide strike that could lead to the shutdown of petrol pumps across the country if their demands remain unresolved.

According to representatives of the association, the decision to protest was taken after several attempts to engage with the government failed to produce a satisfactory solution to the issues faced by petrol pump owners.

The PPDA stated that the strike could begin after Eid if negotiations with the authorities do not result in concrete measures to address their concerns.

Petrol pump dealers argue that their profit margins have remained unchanged for a long time despite the steady increase in operational expenses.

They say rising electricity bills, employee wages, and other business costs have made it increasingly difficult for fuel station owners to operate under the current financial structure.

Association leaders emphasized that without a revision in the dealer margin, many petrol pump operators may struggle to continue their businesses.

The dealers have urged the government to review the current profit margin policy and introduce measures that can help fuel station owners manage their expenses more effectively.

They warned that if the issues are not resolved promptly, a nationwide shutdown of petrol pumps could significantly disrupt fuel supply and create difficulties for the public.

Such a strike could impact transportation, businesses, and daily life across the country, as petrol pumps play a crucial role in maintaining fuel availability for vehicles and industries.

The association has called on government officials to hold meaningful discussions and find a practical solution before the situation escalates into a nationwide fuel crisis.
