Interpol Issues Red Notice for Lyari Gangster Wasiullah Lakho in 60+ Criminal Cases

Interpol has issued a red notice for fugitive Lyari gangster Wasiullah Lakho at the request of Pakistani authorities, marking a major step in international efforts to track down the suspect. According to Karachi police, Lakho is wanted in more than 60 serious criminal cases, including murder, extortion, and attacks on law enforcement personnel.

The red notice was issued by Interpol’s headquarters in Lyon, France, following a formal request from Pakistan. A red notice is an international alert that asks law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a fugitive for extradition or legal proceedings.

Officials stated that Wasiullah Lakho has been absconding for years and is believed to be hiding abroad. Among the cases listed against him is a 2014 Kalri police station case, where he and his accomplices allegedly opened fire on a police team during a raid in Karachi’s Lyari area.

The notice highlights charges under multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including attempted murder, assault on police officers, and criminal conspiracy. Authorities confirmed that Lakho has already been declared a proclaimed offender by a competent court, and a perpetual arrest warrant has been issued against him.

Law enforcement agencies view this development as a significant move toward bringing the accused to justice. The issuance of the Interpol red notice strengthens Pakistan’s ability to seek international cooperation in tracking and extraditing high-profile fugitives involved in organized crime.
