The Islamabad High Court has granted permission for former Prime Minister Imran Khan to meet his legal counsel in jail ahead of an important court hearing.
According to reports, the court directed authorities at Adiala Jail to facilitate a meeting between Imran Khan and his lawyer. The purpose of this meeting is to allow proper preparation for the upcoming proceedings in a high-profile case.
The legal team had repeatedly requested access to the former prime minister, stating that consultation was necessary to review case details, understand his position, and finalise a legal strategy.
The case is linked to a major corruption matter involving Imran Khan and his wife, for which appeals have already been filed. The court emphasised that access to legal counsel is a fundamental right and essential for ensuring a fair trial.
Judges observed that without proper communication between a lawyer and their client, it becomes difficult to present a complete and effective defence. Therefore, the court allowed the meeting to ensure transparency and fairness in the legal process.
The next hearing of the case has also been scheduled, providing sufficient time for legal preparations following the consultation.
This development highlights the importance of legal rights and due process in high-profile cases, ensuring that all parties have a fair opportunity to present their arguments before the court.
