Islamabad Traffic Police has finalised a comprehensive traffic management plan for Eid ul Adha cattle markets across the federal capital to ensure smooth traffic flow during the busy holiday season.
Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk announced that more than 350 traffic officers and personnel will be deployed under the special Eid traffic arrangement. The plan aims to reduce congestion around cattle markets and assist commuters during increased shopping and transport activity before Eid ul Adha.
According to officials, additional traffic staff have been assigned at key cattle market locations and surrounding roads to regulate vehicle movement and guide motorists. Authorities expect heavy traffic near cattle markets as citizens continue purchasing sacrificial animals ahead of Eid.
The Islamabad Traffic Police also urged residents to avoid parking vehicles along roadsides near cattle markets and instead use designated parking areas to prevent road blockages and unnecessary traffic jams.
Officials stated that traffic police personnel will remain on duty around the clock during Eid days to maintain order, facilitate citizens and respond quickly to traffic-related issues across the city.
Authorities further appealed to the public to cooperate with traffic officials and follow the announced traffic management plan to help maintain smooth transportation in the capital.
Pakistan is expected to observe Eid ul Adha on May 27 after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed the sighting of the Zilhaj moon. The federal government has also announced public holidays from May 26 to May 28 for Eid celebrations.
The special traffic arrangements come as Islamabad witnesses increased movement around cattle markets, shopping centres and major roads ahead of the religious festival.
