KP Police Arrest Constable in Mardan Sikh Couple Murder Case Within 24 Hours

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have arrested a serving police constable in connection with the murder of a Sikh couple in Baboo Mohalla, Mardan, successfully solving the case within 24 hours of the incident.

According to police officials, the accused allegedly shot and killed Jagannath, a gurdwara caretaker (sewadar), and his wife, Asawanti, at their residence on Wednesday. The double murder had raised serious concerns within the local Sikh community and prompted an immediate investigation by law enforcement authorities.

Addressing a press briefing, Mardan District Police Officer (DPO) Masood Ahmad Bangash said the suspect was arrested after investigators used CCTV footage, mobile phone records, and other technical evidence to trace his movements. The coordinated investigation enabled police to identify and apprehend the accused within a day.

Initial findings suggest that the alleged motive behind the killings was a personal grudge. According to investigators, the accused had previously been posted at the local gurdwara but was transferred approximately three years ago. Police believe the transfer resulted in long-standing resentment that may have led to the crime.

Authorities stated that multiple police teams worked together during the investigation, collecting evidence and conducting intelligence-based operations that ultimately resulted in the suspect’s arrest.

Police have confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to establish all aspects of the case. Officials also assured that a comprehensive charge sheet will be submitted before the court to ensure that legal proceedings are conducted in accordance with the law.

The murder of the Sikh couple drew widespread attention and raised concerns regarding the safety of minority communities in the region. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice for the victims through a transparent investigation and legal process.
