KARACHI: A 15-year-old matriculation student was shot dead during a robbery at his home in Karachi’s Manghopir area, police said.
The victim was identified as Rosham, who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and died at the scene.
According to his father, Roueidad Hussain, six armed robbers entered the family’s house with the intention of carrying out a robbery. He said two of the suspects were wearing police uniforms, raising concerns that the group may have posed as law enforcement officials to gain entry into the house.
Hussain said he heard suspicious noises and came out of his room to find out what was happening. His son also emerged from another room at the same time. The suspects then allegedly opened fire without warning, resulting in Rosham being shot in the chest.
The grieving father appealed to senior police officials to take immediate action against those responsible for his son’s killing. He called for a thorough investigation and urged authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice.
The victim’s family said Rosham was the only brother of eight sisters, making the tragedy a particularly devastating loss for the household.
Police have launched an investigation into the robbery and killing and are working to identify, trace and arrest the suspects. Investigators are also expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged use of police uniforms during the incident.
The killing has added to concerns over violent robberies in Karachi and raised questions about the security of residents inside their homes. Authorities are now working to establish the identities of the attackers and determine the full circumstances of the incident.
