Traditionally like all other tribes, Awan tribe has its own pride and traditions.
Their lineage goes up to our beloved Hazrat Ali RA.
In khushab District they are densely located in Soon valley ,in the adjoining Area’s of police station katha and in Daman muhaar.Former NA 52, NA 69 and Presant NA 93 have always elected an MNA from the Awan tribe which the Awan’s in 1970 with the great struggle of the notable’s of Awan’s and with the significant efforts of Malik Sarwer Awan of Khura, Advocate Malik Dost Muhammad Awan of Jabbi and Brig Malik Sawal khan of Padhrar who was the first President of Tanzeem ul Awan Pakistan got the Awan’s out of the shackles of Qureshi’s and Tiwana’s who are the landed Aristocracy of the plains and inherited immense strength from the British Raj and resultantly Malik Karam Bukhs Awan was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 1970.
Since then be it Malik Karam Bukhs, Malik Naeem Khan,Sumaira Malik or Omar Aslam who have been elected as an MNA all hail from the Awan tribe.Likewise former PP 39 in the same belt had always been represented by an Awan till PP 39 and 40 merged into PP82 and for the first time Fateh khaliq Bandial was elected MPA in 2018 General Elections .
Now recently with the announcement of Malik Haroon Bandial brother of Malik Farooq Bandial to contest in NA 93 has sent a wave of frustration in the entire Awan community because they were accustomed to their Awan leaders living in the same vicinity with same cultural and linguistic similarities.where as Village Bandial is on the border of Mianwali and too far away from police station Nowshera and Katha.
People are of the opinion that the the Awan’s were careless in 2018 Generals Election’s and let the provincial PP 82 seat easily loose and did not campaign well for Dr Nasir Khan Awan which has showed the Bandial’s the way to this land of Soon valley and other Awan areas that now the Bandial’s consider NA 93 as an easy task. it would be tragic that the Awan tribe do not even have an MNA from their area and tribe.
