Punjab horticultural authority:
We know that are living in the post-industrial phase agrarian societies are converted into commercial ones we have witnessed that the factor of greenness has been eradicated gradually by the non-primitive members of the society because due to scarcity of lands they are converting agrarian lands into commercial ones many trees have been cut down with the passage of time. Now let’s compare previous societies with modern ones previous peoples were living fresh lives their living style was very simple although their intellectual competency was not up to the extent of modern people despite of that they were living a calm and peaceful life major factor of the prolonged period of their ages is that they were living in a fresh environment and were breathing in fresh and energetic air that was just possible due to the presence of green fields around them they were breathing fresh eating fresh their minds were out of the competition of this world they were in no rush of developing quickly they were in no rush of earning money old times nowadays are considered as good times because the post-industrial phase is full of pollution, the fierce competition of earning money, in order to satisfy different needs deforestation is very common due to which day by day we have seen an increase in pollution.
Unfortunately, Pakistan is one of on the top most polluted countries in the world IQAIR global air quality ranked Pakistan on the second spot all over the world in terms of pollution. Pakistan has been ranked as second most polluted country in world and that ranking is not a positive sign for our upcoming generations pollution is one of the biggest reasons for climate change in all over the world. One of the major causes of pollution is deforestation. The term deforestation means cutting down of trees or conversion of agrarian lands into commercial ones by removing the plantation done right there outcomes of deforestation are lack in the amount of required oxygen resulting in weakening of the ozone layer (ozone depletion) as well as trees can be a barrier in front of floods entering into the dry places moreover trees are also a source of wood on order to be burned as fuel, for furniture making food, etc. moreover trees can be handy in lowering down the temperature of a particular area mainly they bring freshness in the air and also impacts the temperature of a particular area deforestation can lead us to face all of the problems relevant to above situations.
The major tool through which we can counter the challenge of climate change is by doing plantation because trees are the tool through which we can cope with this emerging problem of climate change. Luckily our administrative entity is serious in this regard because they have realized that Pakistan is amongst those states likely to be more affected by this climate change.
One of the important administrative bodies concerning plantation and cleanliness is Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA). The major jurisdiction of PHA is in the province of Punjab because Punjab is considered the biggest province of Pakistan concerning the population due to its high population Punjab is also a polluted province because major industries of Pakistan lie in this province so the formation of PHA is one of the great initiatives of our competent authorities to make Pakistan clean and green. Directorates of PHA are opened in different cities of Punjab province talking about PHA Sargodha the directorate of PHA Sargodha was approved in the notification in the year 2014 by the Punjab government and the directorate became functional in the year 2016. The jurisdiction of PHA Sargodha is Sargodha city apart from the cantonment area (Military lands of Sargodha). Before PHA became functional 20 main parks of Sargodha were under the authority of municipal corporations after PHA Sargodha became functional all of those 20 main parks came under the jurisdiction of PHA. PHA renovated all of those 20 parks within a very short period. PHA Sargodha claims that the next 5 to 10 years will be a clean and green city. The target of PHA is to plant 50000 plants in one year.
Since the Director General PHA Sargodha Sir Fareed Ahmad has taken the charge they have taken some great steps under the supervision of chief secretary Punjab and commissioner Sargodha some of the achievements of PHA Sargodha are as follows: Lahore road beautification PHA planted some plants in pots in medians of Lahore Sargodha Road. One of the significant projects of PHA is the development of ladies park in the company bagh Sargodha according to an analysis thither is almost 80 percent completed just little finishing is remaining to be done.
