The Balochistan government has launched a one-month free vehicle and motorcycle registration campaign aimed at providing relief to citizens and improving compliance across the province.
According to officials, the initiative was approved by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti following rising fuel prices, which had impacted vehicle owners.
Director General Excise and Taxation Muhammad Ayub Hazara said special facilitation desks have been established in all excise offices to ensure smooth processing of registrations.
The campaign, which began on April 6, allows citizens to register their vehicles and motorcycles without paying standard registration charges. Applicants are only required to pay Rs2,250 for the smart card and Rs1,800 for the number plate.
Officials stated that many vehicle owners in Quetta and other regions had not transferred ownership of their vehicles, making them ineligible for government fuel subsidies.
The initiative aims to address this issue by encouraging people to complete the registration process within the limited one-month period.
To facilitate the public, excise offices will remain open throughout the week, including weekends, ensuring maximum accessibility for applicants.
Authorities believe the campaign will not only help citizens benefit from government subsidies but also improve record-keeping and transparency within the vehicle registration system.
The move is seen as a temporary relief measure as well as a step towards strengthening administrative efficiency in the province.
