Pakistan security forces successfully intercepted two rudimentary drones reportedly launched by the militant group FAK, using advanced electronic warfare systems to neutralize the threat.
According to officials, the drones were detected and forced down safely through electronic countermeasures before they could cause significant damage. Authorities confirmed that only minor debris-related damage occurred and no military installations or civilian infrastructure were affected.
Security analysts say the militant group FAK is believed to have links with networks operating under the Afghan Taliban regime, which has been accused of allowing such groups to operate from Afghan territory.
Earlier on Friday morning, Afghan Taliban sources claimed that a drone attack had targeted a military cantonment in Kohat, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. However, officials stated that these claims remain unverified and lack credible evidence.
Experts noted that such claims are often part of propaganda campaigns designed to spread misinformation and create confusion about security developments in the region.
In recent months, Taliban-affiliated channels have also circulated several unsubstantiated reports, including false claims about downing Pakistan Air Force aircraft and capturing pilots. These posts were later removed from official channels, raising questions about the credibility of such statements.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Islamabad police confirmed that a drone had fallen in Sector I-9 of the capital city earlier in the day.
Authorities immediately cordoned off the area and initiated security operations to ensure public safety.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sarfraz Butt stated that law enforcement agencies responded promptly and secured the site where the drone debris was discovered.
The incident briefly disrupted flight operations at Islamabad International Airport as a precautionary measure.
The Civil Aviation Authority later confirmed that all flight operations had resumed and schedules returned to normal after security checks were completed.
Officials continue to monitor the situation closely as security agencies remain vigilant against potential threats.
