Islamabad Cracks Down on Undocumented Foreign Nationals; Landlords, Businesses Face Legal Action

Authorities in Islamabad have launched a stricter enforcement phase targeting undocumented foreign nationals residing in the capital and nearby districts. The move was reviewed during a high-level meeting of the special task force on repatriation of illegal nationals, chaired by Chief Commissioner Islamabad and CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa at the Capital Development Authority headquarters.

Senior officials, including the Inspector General of Police Islamabad, representatives from the Ministry of Interior, NADRA, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and district administrations from Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree, and Haripur, participated in the session.

Officials confirmed that the repatriation process is ongoing, with many undocumented individuals opting for voluntary return during the initial phase. However, authorities have now shifted toward stricter enforcement measures.

Legal proceedings are being initiated not only against undocumented residents but also against landlords allegedly renting properties to them and business owners providing commercial premises without verifying valid documentation. FIRs are being registered under relevant laws, and surveillance has been strengthened to prevent re-settlement in adjoining areas.

Authorities emphasized enhanced coordination between Islamabad and neighboring districts to curb illegal movement. Data from enforcement operations is being integrated into the Ministry of Interior’s central dashboard to improve oversight and inter-agency coordination.

Officials from PTA confirmed that SIM cards issued to undocumented nationals are being blocked as part of the broader enforcement strategy.

Chief Commissioner Randhawa reiterated that no residential accommodation or employment opportunities should be extended to undocumented individuals. The government, he stated, remains committed to ensuring national security through lawful and coordinated action.
